Exile

Exile in spiritual terms basically is removing your heart from the poisons of this modern, superficial world, and living on the island of Self Respect and introversion. We still live in the world, living in the mud of the pond (the roots of the lotus) but taking sustenance from the sun(God). The drawback is the pond is full of garbage and pollutions and if we take sustenance from those the lotus flower will begin too wilt. So we need too have firm roots in reality but our attitude and mind will be beyond. A classic example is Nelson Mandella, thrown in prison for revolutionary ideals, but whilst in incarceration completely transforming his attitudes, too start a silent revolution against apartheid, and receiving the Nobel Peace prize for his efforts. We should follow his example.
